Description
We are now looking for a student assistant for the Adapted Primary School at Kungsladugårdsskolan.
Kungsladugårdsskolan is a grades F-6 school with approximately 620 students. Our organization also includes an adapted primary school with approximately 35 students. The school is located in Majorna, close to many beautiful environments, including Slottsskogen and Svaleboskogen. It is also easy to get into the city and Gothenburg's southern archipelago by tram and bus. Kungsladugårdsskolan's basic view is that all children are everyone's children.
Responsibilities
As a student assistant, you are part of a class work team with the class teacher, leisure center teachers, and student assistants. You support the students both during the school day and at leisure time. You work on building relationships with the students, are attentive to their needs, and support them with schoolwork, activities, transitions, as well as hygiene and toilet visits.
You collaborate with colleagues, guardians, and other people around the student. You can handle both daily routines and be involved in developing working methods and routines so that the students can develop as much as possible.
In the current classes, the students study according to the curriculum subject area. They all have varying degrees of intellectual disabilities, but they are at an earlier level than students who study according to the curriculum subjects. Various additional diagnoses, such as autism, ADHD, etc., occur. Students may require help with personal hygiene during toilet visits or diaper changes. Aggressive behavior may occur and must be handled.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have completed upper secondary education, preferably in Child and Leisure or Care and Nursing. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to express yourself fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
We would like you to have experience working with children and students with intellectual disabilities of different developmental levels, as well as children with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD). Knowledge of sign language as an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), as well as experience with clarifying pedagogy and visual support, are also very valuable.
The students need support in social interaction, communication, and care. Therefore, you need to be secure, calm, and stable as a person.
You are relationship-building and have a professional attitude towards students, employees, and guardians. You have good cooperation skills and are receptive to your colleagues. You reflect on ethics and value-based issues. You have a great commitment and good ability to see each student's opportunities and needs and stay one step ahead. To motivate, inspire, and challenge the students, you use your ability to show humility, warmth, and the ability to set boundaries. You are receptive, flexible, and patient.
